Recommended by Condé Nast Johansens
The Harte and Garter is on the High Street in the centre of Windsor.
In fact you cannot get closer to the Castle without actually going inside.
The location makes this hotel very sought after, as do the luxury rooms
with great views from the top floors into the castle itself. This windsor
hotel sits on a site with a long history of providing hospitality. Next
time you read Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor, you
will notice a reference to the 'Garter Inn'. The Harte & Garter
Hotel stands on the very same spot where the old inn which Shakespeare
mentioned once stood. Recently modernised inside it now stands as one
of Windsor's hippest luxury hotels.
