Restaurants in Windsor

Here are some suggestions for good restaurants within walking distance of Windsor town centre. These are good choices for the end of the tour. There are plenty of others, but these are restaurants that I have personally tested and found to be of excellent quality. So without further ado…

The George Inn, Eton –  A lovely traditional pub, but the food is elevated to a surprisingly high level. The beer is great too! Garden restaurant is an added bonus in summer months.

The Bel and Dragon – Modern British classics done with some surprising twists. Very comfortable interior.

Gilbey’s Restaurant – Truly excellent food with a French feel in a delightfully cosy atmosphere. The great cocktails are a bonus.

Sebastians – an excellent authentic Pizzeria with a wood fired pizza oven. A family favourite.

The Viceroy – Never known the welcome and food to be anything less than excellent. A Windsor favourite

The Real Greek – A chain restaurant, but a good one! Lovely Greek food.

Al Fassia – A Morrocan restaurant that is a long established feature of Windsor dining. I love their tagines. However this is an additional ten minute walk from the end of the tour route.

Thai Square – Another chain, but who doesn’t love Thai food. Nicely designed interior.

Mango Lounge – Innovative takes on Indian food. Award winning restaurant near the river.

A la Russe – French cuisine on the High Street. Very nice and a decent wine list too.

About Chris Brown

Chris' first Saturday job was as a Tour Guide at the old Wembley Stadium. His fascination with Windsor grew from his love of history and archaeology. Starting out as a volunteer on local digs and in the Windsor Museum, he then brushed up on his old tour guiding skills to share his knowledge and passion for the town during walking tours of Windsor. More recently he's added another feather to his cap as takes to the streets to proclaim Windsor news in his role as official Town Crier for the Borough.
